About

Matcha is a native macOS menu-bar utility for keeping your Mac awake during exports, renders, downloads, and long builds.

  • Start timed sessions with presets, typed durations, or an end time.
  • Use a floating badge and countdown to monitor and control sessions.
  • Keep the Mac awake while a watched app or command runs, or use schedules and saved templates.
  • Detect coding agents and choose notification prompts or automatic session control.
  • Stop sessions with an idle timeout or a battery threshold; control them through Shortcuts or the CLI.

Matcha is free and open source under the MIT license, with no account, subscription, or telemetry. It requires macOS 11 or later and runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Uninstall Matcha and optional data cleanup

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --cask matcha

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

Deep clean (optional)

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --zap --cask matcha

--zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out --zap.

Files Matcha can leave on your Mac (2)
Files and folders
~/Library/Application Support/Matcha
~/Library/Preferences/com.matcha.app.plist

These entries come from the Homebrew definition, checked . They say what it declares, not what is on your Mac.
