Jump Desktop Connect
Phase Five Systems · The host component that makes a Mac available for authenticated remote viewing and control through Jump Desktop.
About
Jump Desktop Connect runs on the computer you want to access remotely. It suits people reaching an office/home Mac and support teams administering authorized hosts. Install it on the host, then connect from the separate Jump Desktop viewer or supported web browser. Connect is not the Mac viewer app, and their release notes, licenses and purchase requirements must not be confused.
Requirements and installation
The current official installation guide requires macOS 10.15 or newer and administrator privileges to install Connect. Read-only inspection of the exact DMG installer payload identifies JumpConnect 10.15.28.0, whose main executable is a universal Mach-O with x86_64 and arm64 slices. Its Info.plist declares 10.9, but the official current host requirement remains the stricter macOS 10.15 or newer; the bundle declaration does not override feature requirements. This checks the main host program, not every helper, driver or codec. The exact 10.15.28 Mac DMG endpoint reports 66,959,957 bytes in its HTTP Content-Length; this is compressed download size, not installed size. A numeric minimum RAM requirement is not stated in the checked guides. Resolution, display count, codec, CPU/GPU and available bandwidth determine practical performance.
Download the official Mac disk image, open it and run Install Jump Desktop Connect. A person at the Mac must grant the required privacy permissions after installation. Sign in to add an authorized remote access user, or enroll the host with your organization's Connect Code. Treat installer enrollment codes and account credentials as secrets: possession of a team installer/code can enroll computers into that team. The host must be awake, online and configured for access; network proxies/firewalls can affect availability.
Permissions and operation
Screen Recording permits streaming the display; Accessibility permits remote mouse/keyboard control. On macOS 14 or newer, Remote Desktop permission maintains unattended access without repeated local approval. Microphone access is optional and enables host audio streaming. The permissions assistant itself requires macOS 13 or newer, a separate limit from the host application's 10.15 minimum.
Connect can start at login and install updates automatically. Its settings include Fluid connections, proxies, diagnostics and crash-report preferences. Some virtual-display, privacy-mode, USB-redirection and centrally enforced controls require particular Teams plans. The official settings guide says anonymous crash reports are enabled by default; this listing does not claim zero telemetry. Review diagnostic archives before sharing them.
Accounts, fees and security
Ordinary personal access uses a free Jump Desktop account without a Teams subscription; viewer purchases and paid team plans are separate from host installation. The publisher describes one-time purchases for the Mac/iPhone viewers, free browser/Windows access and paid Pro/Enterprise management. Connect is proprietary software rather than an open-source client; review current publisher terms and feature entitlements before deployment.
The publisher describes Fluid sessions as end-to-end encrypted, including connections forwarded through its relays. Encryption does not protect against an authorized remote operator, compromised account or accidental clipboard/file sharing. Restrict remote access users, protect account authentication and disable unneeded sharing features. Privacy mode is a feature with version-specific fixes, not a guarantee that local displays are always hidden.
Uninstall Connect through its settings with administrator authorization to stop accepting remote connections. Removing the app does not automatically remove its host entry from your account/team; remove that separately. The official documentation screenshot shows the Mac permissions assistant, not proof of the exact 10.15.28 interface. The existing icon is retained; its original publisher URL was not recovered in this research.
