Free Download Manager is a Networking app for Mac.

About

Free Download Manager (FDM) is a cross-platform download organizer for macOS, Windows, Android and Linux. It combines ordinary file transfers with a built-in BitTorrent client and tools for controlling when and how downloads run.

Transfers and organization

FDM splits supported downloads into sections and transfers them simultaneously. Actual speed depends on the source server and connection; the advertised acceleration is not a guaranteed speed increase. Interrupted downloads can resume without starting over when the server supports it. File organization rules place downloads into predefined folders, while a scheduler controls download activity. Traffic-usage modes help leave bandwidth available for browsing and other applications.

Browser and add-on workflow

The official download page links Chrome and Firefox extensions for browser integration. Add-ons provide downloads from supported video sites; the Elephant add-on is linked separately and is not the source repository of FDM itself. The feature page also describes media preview and conversion, plus Android-driven remote creation of downloads on a PC or Mac with FDM installed. Save only content you are authorized to download.

macOS distribution and version scope

The official download page lists FDM 6.35.1 for Mac with separate ARM and Intel DMG downloads, and older installers for older macOS versions. Homebrew records version 6.35.1 using a mutable latest-download URL. A URL alone does not prove the exact build or architecture of its current contents.

The feature page separates current 6.x features from legacy 3.9 features. In particular, its legacy open-source statement, portable mode, Site Explorer and HTML Spider should not be assumed to describe the modern Mac build. No official public source-code repository for this exact 6.x Mac package was identified on the pages reviewed.
