Space

Space is a cloud filesystem from Space Computer, Inc. It presents cloud files as a regular drive in Finder so you can open and save them in your existing apps without keeping a complete local copy. It is aimed at people working across computers and teams handling large project files. The desktop download is labeled private beta.

Plans and license Individual and Teams are paid subscriptions with a 7-day trial. Individual includes 1 TB for one person and does not include shared workspaces or team invitations. Teams pools 1 TB per member. Enterprise has custom terms and deployment options. An account is required for account-based services. The desktop service is licensed under the vendor's Terms of Use; open-source components retain their own licenses. Do not confuse the open-source SDKs with an open-source license for the desktop product.

Mac requirements and installation The official Mac download page specifies macOS Tahoe 26.4 or later, Apple silicon and at least 16 GB of memory. It does not offer an Intel Mac option. Choose macOS at https://app.spacefs.com/download and use the official PKG installer, then follow the vendor's setup and account prompts. The Linux shell command and FUSE 3 requirement are not Mac installation instructions.

Permissions, data and removal The privacy notice says permissions may include selected files, Photos, background activity, accessibility and file-provider or filesystem extensions, depending on enabled features. This is not evidence that every Mac installation requires all of them. Cloud files and metadata are processed for storage, sync and search; public links can expose content to anyone holding the link. Treat a mounted drive as live data, not as a disposable cache. Keep an independent backup: version history and cloud redundancy are not a substitute. Local caches and staged files may still occupy disk space.

No complete Mac-specific uninstall procedure was found in the reviewed official pages. Before removal, verify uploads have completed and preserve independent copies of needed files. Stop using the drive and follow current vendor guidance for removing the app and any installed helpers or extensions; do not delete files inside a mounted drive as an uninstall method. Signing out does not necessarily remove caches, logs, staged uploads or offline content. Removing the app is separate from cancelling a subscription or deleting cloud data.
