About

oMLX runs local models on Apple silicon and lets you manage the server from the macOS menu bar. It is intended for people connecting chat clients and coding tools to models on their own Mac.

  • Serve language, vision, embedding and reranking models through OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic-compatible APIs.
  • Handle concurrent requests with continuous batching and reuse KV cache across RAM and SSD storage.
  • Download models from Hugging Face, manage model settings and chat in the web dashboard.
  • Pin frequently used models or unload idle models to manage memory.

The project uses the Apache License 2.0. It requires macOS 15.0 or later and Apple silicon. The macOS app includes automatic updates.
