About

Sentient OS is an open-source personal AI assistant for Mac. It analyzes the local sources you choose and keeps its knowledge in ordinary Markdown files. It is intended for people who want help with replies, forms and follow-up work in their existing apps.

Use Sidekick to click, type, attach files and move between apps with its own cursor.
Draft replies with Double Tap using the conversation on screen, your knowledge and writing examples. Drafts remain unsent.
Prepare suggestions and drafts overnight for you to review before starting their actions.
Choose compatible local or hosted AI models. Hosted providers process the context used for their work.

No separate Sentient account is required. The source uses AGPL-3.0; charges from your chosen AI provider are separate. The current launch offer provides lifetime access to the next 1,000 users.

Requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or newer) running macOS 15.4 or later. The built-in model needs 8 GB RAM, and initial setup needs about 10 GB free disk space. Larger local models need additional memory.

How to install Sentient OS on Mac

In Terminal, run: brew install --cask sentient-os-labs/tap/sentient-os
Homebrew installs the app in your Applications folder.

Install without Homebrew

Uninstall Sentient OS and optional data cleanup

Uninstall command

brew uninstall --cask sentient-os

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.
