Godot Engine (.NET)
Godot Engine contributors · The C#-enabled Godot game engine with scene editing, 2D/3D rendering, animation, physics, debugging and export workflows.
Godot Engine (.NET) is a Developer Tools app for Mac.
About
Godot Engine (.NET) is the C#-enabled edition of the open-source Godot game engine. It serves developers making 2D and 3D games or interactive applications, with a scene/node editor, animation, physics, UI tools, resource import and scripting. Choose this edition when your project uses C#; GDScript is also available.
Development workflow
Build reusable scenes, attach scripts, configure input and physics, and debug or profile a running project. The engine offers Forward+, Mobile and Compatibility renderers for different hardware targets. Export templates and platform toolchains are separate downloads; an editor installation alone is not every SDK needed to ship a game. C# export support differs from GDScript, particularly for web and mobile targets, so check the target-specific .NET documentation before choosing a deployment platform.
Installation and hardware
Extract the official macOS .NET ZIP and move Godot into Applications, or use brew install --cask godot-mono. The exact 4.7.2 ZIP is 200,756,622 bytes. Its version-specific source bundle plist declares Apple Silicon and x86_64 support, with macOS 13 minimum for arm64 and macOS 11 for x86_64. Those exact bundle requirements take precedence over the documentation's older generic renderer compatibility examples. The system-requirements guide gives 4 GB RAM as a minimum for the native editor working on a simple project; larger projects require more. A suitable GPU is needed: the Compatibility renderer uses OpenGL 3.3, while Vulkan/Metal rendering has separate driver and GPU requirements. Project files, caches, .NET and export templates need additional storage.
.NET and platform dependencies
Install a matching 64-bit .NET SDK for C# development; the catalog cask declares dotnet-sdk as a dependency. The 4.7.2 GodotTools source targets net 8.0, while target platforms may require newer SDKs, workloads or signing tools. The C# guide specifically calls for .NET 9 or newer when exporting to Android. Android/iOS deployment also requires their platform setup, and console support involves third-party providers and platform-holder requirements. Follow the official export guide for your actual target rather than treating desktop support as universal export support.
License, connectivity and safety
Godot is MIT-licensed, free to use, and has no engine subscription or royalty requirement. Retain the required license notices; imported assets, plugins, .NET packages and platform SDKs have their own licenses and costs. Local editing and running projects need no Godot cloud account. Downloads, asset-store browsing, package restoration, multiplayer features or external project services need network access. Microphone and camera access are feature-specific: the Mac bundle states they are used for audio/video capture. Ordinary editing is not a blanket reason to grant every system permission. Projects and editor plugins can execute code with your user's privileges; inspect untrusted projects and keep backups before migrations. Test exports on target hardware, and do not assume an engine update preserves every project's behavior.

Install and uninstall
Homebrew installs the app in your Applications folder.
Install without Homebrew
Download the same file Homebrew uses: github.com/godotengine/godot/releases/download/4.7.2-stable/Godot_v4.7.2-stable_mono_macos.universal.zip

$ brew uninstall --cask \godot-monoA regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.
$ brew uninstall --zap --cask \godot-mono--zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left.See which files are removed
