Poppins
Indian Type Foundry · An open-source geometric sans-serif font family from Indian Type Foundry, with Latin and Devanagari support, nine upright weights and matching italics.
About
Poppins is a geometric sans-serif typeface designed and produced in-house at Indian Type Foundry. This Homebrew package installs fonts, not a standalone macOS application. Its design draws on the geometric sans tradition while supporting both Latin and Devanagari writing systems.
Family and design
The official README describes nine upright weights, from Thin through Black, each with a complementary italic. It lists 1,014 glyphs per font, including conjunct forms for languages such as Hindi, Marathi and Nepali. Both scripts use geometric forms, particularly circles. The letters are nearly monolinear, with optical corrections at stroke joins to maintain even text color. Latin ascender height and Devanagari base character height are equal, while Latin capitals are shorter and the Latin x-height is relatively high.
macOS package
Homebrew records version 4.003 and installs 18 OpenType font files, including Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold and Black styles with their italics. The architecture-independent archive is built for Google Fonts. The official 4.003 release warns that these files may differ from the final files distributed by Google Fonts; it does not provide itemized changes.
Credits and license
The README credits Jonny Pinhorn, Ninad Kale, Shiva Nallaperumal, Michelle Parmar, Rahul Gajjar and Liang Hai for work between 2013 and 2016. The repository distributes the family under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. This is a font resource without its own graphical interface or application icon.
