Vivaldi

Vivaldi is a Chromium-based browser designed for users who want detailed control over their browsing interface and workflows. Organize many tabs, configure shortcuts and appearance, and use built-in tools alongside regular web browsing. The desktop product is separate from its mobile versions, even though some workflows and account features span devices.

Browsing and organization

The official product emphasizes configurable tabs, workspaces, ad and tracker blocking, themes and productivity features. Desktop offerings include mail, calendar and feed-reader tools. Set up the features you need rather than assuming each one is enabled by default. Browser extensions and remote sites have their own compatibility, access and privacy rules.

Mac installation

Install the official Mac package or the vivaldi cask. The current official Mac update feed requires macOS 13 or later and publishes a Universal archive. This current download is 227,218,412 bytes according to both the signed update feed and HTTP HEAD; user profiles, caches and extensions need additional space. Windows, Linux, Android and iOS downloads are separate products. Launch the browser, choose whether to import existing browser data and configure your preferred browsing tools. Default-browser registration is optional.

Price, accounts and data

Vivaldi is free to download. Ordinary browsing does not require a Vivaldi account; optional sync, community or mail-related services can require accounts and their own configuration. The browser uses open-source Chromium components with separate Vivaldi application terms; do not label every part of the complete application an unrestricted open-source product.

Websites, extensions, search providers, updates and optional online services can communicate over the network. Built-in blocking reduces selected trackers but does not make every website anonymous or remove the need to review permissions. Check camera, microphone, location and notification requests before granting them. Private browsing does not hide activity from every network operator or service. Back up important bookmarks and settings before resetting profiles, and review imported passwords and extension privileges.

Keep the browser updated: the 8.2.4133.84, .83 and .80 releases each update the Chromium ESR baseline with specific upstream security fixes. Their exact changelogs are published through the official update service.
