AnyDesk

AnyDesk is a proprietary remote-desktop application for remote support, remote work and access to another computer. It can display a remote desktop and, with the receiving device's permission, control its keyboard and mouse. It also offers file transfer, clipboard sharing, session permissions and collaboration tools. Availability depends on the operating systems, client versions and license; a feature advertised for another platform is not automatically available on Mac.

Connecting and installation

The current Mac line supports macOS11 Big Sur or later on Intel and Apple Silicon hardware. AnyDesk9.6.5 was the final release supporting macOS10.13–10.15. Download the Mac DMG, open it and follow the application's installation guidance. Installing its service can require administrator authorization and helps access persist after restart or sign-out. The current rolling official DMG is26,679,950 bytes, excluding installed storage.

For an attended connection, both devices run compatible clients. Enter the remote AnyDesk address or alias and ask the remote user to accept the connection and appropriate session permissions. Internet connectivity and reachability of AnyDesk services are required for normal cloud operation; direct-network and separately licensed on-premises arrangements have their own requirements. Installing this client is not a promise of completely offline remote access. Firewalls, proxies and network policies can prevent connections.

macOS privacy permissions

macOS controls access independently of the session password or license. Screen Recording permits the remote participant to view the Mac's screen, while Accessibility permits remote keyboard and mouse control. Full Disk Access supports access to protected files and folders for file transfer and should be granted only when that access is needed. Use AnyDesk's System Permissions Status guidance and macOS Privacy & Security settings to approve the correct app copy. macOS can require a restart or renewed approval after changes.

These permissions must be authorized on the Mac; AnyDesk does not bypass macOS privacy controls. A connection can be visible without allowing input control, or control and file access can be limited by the chosen session profile. Other remote-control clients and overlapping background installations may complicate service or permission behavior; use the intended app copy and review installed background services.

Unattended access and security

Unattended Access uses a password configured on the remote device so a session can begin without a person clicking Accept. The developer supports this in portable or installed clients, although installation improves availability after restart or sign-out. Use a strong unique password, enable supported two-factor authentication, restrict allowed connecting clients and give only the permissions needed. Unattended access does not eliminate the Mac's Screen Recording or Accessibility requirements.

Only accept connections from people you trust and independently verify support requests. A remote participant with control or file-transfer access can change files, operate applications and see sensitive content. Never provide remote access or credentials merely because an unsolicited caller claims to be support. Revoke unattended access and permissions when no longer needed. Encryption protects the connection in transit but does not make an untrusted remote operator safe.

Free and commercial licensing

AnyDesk is free for personal, non-commercial use with limited features and support. Professional support, business activity and commercial remote work require a paid license. It is not open-source software, and a free download is not a commercial-use entitlement. The current US pricing page lists Solo at$28.90 per month billed annually, Standard from$49.90 and Advanced from$111.90; temporary first-year discounts and add-on connection charges are shown separately. Verify local currency, taxes, renewal terms and connection/device limits before purchase.

Paid licensing and management use an AnyDesk account with the appropriate license assigned to the initiating address or alias. The client identifies devices using their AnyDesk addresses; access still needs the receiving user's approval or properly configured Unattended Access. Optional account, address-book and AnyDesk One services have their own eligibility and plan limits.
