AppCleaner by FreeMacSoft is a small macOS utility for removing unwanted applications and locating their related files. It is intended for Mac users who want to review associated preferences, support data and other leftovers when uninstalling an app.

Install and use

Install with brew install --cask appcleaner, or download the official ZIP, unpack it and move AppCleaner to Applications. Open it, select or drag the app you want to uninstall, inspect the related-file list and confirm only the items you intend to remove. Follow the Full Disk Access prompt when needed: version3.7 notes that without this permission some associated files may not be removable. Keep any documents, settings or support data you still need before confirming removal. Apps with their own uninstaller or special system components may require their vendor's removal procedure.

The official website describes3.7 as macOS15 or later, but the currently distributed3.7.0 application's Info.plist requires macOS15.6 or later; use the actual package requirement. Older Macs should choose the official compatible older download:3.6.8 is listed for10.14 through15.6,3.6 for10.13, and3.4 for10.10 through10.12.

This does not guarantee that every application can be completely removed or that every protected/shared file can be deleted.
