Battle.net

Battle.net is Blizzard Entertainment's desktop launcher and account-connected hub for supported games. It gives players a common place to install, update and launch their eligible titles, review news and connect with friends. The Mac launcher is separate from each game's Mac build and system requirements: seeing a title in the store does not mean that title runs on macOS.

Game library and social features

Manage supported installed games, download patches and launch a game from its library page. The official desktop page also advertises game and expansion shopping, digital gifts, news, friend messaging and voice chat. Availability depends on the title, account, region and current service. Promotional references to Windows-only games are not a promise of Mac compatibility.

The account supports two-factor authentication. Use the publisher's account-security options and keep recovery information available before changing authentication. Battle.net's mobile app is a separate application; downloading this Mac setup program does not install its mobile authenticator or provide a game license.

Installation and download size

Download the official Mac setup application, open it and follow its installation prompts. The Homebrew cask uses a manual Battle.net-Setup.app installer with brew install --cask battle-net; this is not a portable game bundle. The checked official setup download is 3,192,478 bytes. That is the bootstrap/setup artifact only, not the final installed launcher or any downloaded game, which can require much more disk space and network transfer.

The current numeric macOS minimum and exact CPU architectures of this setup artifact have not been independently established by the checked official materials. Verify the current support requirements for the launcher and, separately, the game you intend to play. Do not assume Apple silicon native support or a Universal binary from the existence of a Mac download. The cask declares macOS without a numbered minimum and no additional Homebrew formula dependency or named conflict.

Account, permissions and dependencies

A Battle.net account and network access are needed for account, download, update, shopping and social functions. Individual games may have additional purchase, subscription, hardware, storage and network requirements. Administrative authorization may be needed for installation or protected destination changes. Microphone permission is relevant if you use voice chat. The checked sources do not establish a blanket Accessibility or Full Disk Access requirement for all launcher operations.

This download does not include every game or entitlement. Some games are free to play and others require purchase, an active subscription or paid content. Battle.net and the game software are governed by the publisher's license and service terms; the launcher is not established as open-source software.

Privacy and operational considerations

An account-connected launcher communicates with online services and can handle account identity, friend relationships, shopping activity, game information and optional voice-chat data. Review the publisher's privacy and account settings. Do not share login credentials, recovery codes or authentication prompts with a purported support contact.

Automatic patches change local game files and may consume substantial bandwidth and disk space. Keep adequate free space and check game-specific compatibility before a major update. Uninstalling a launcher, clearing its shared application data or deleting game folders can affect installations and settings; confirm what you intend to remove first.
