WorkBuddy China

WorkBuddy China is Tencent's desktop AI-agent workspace for document processing, research, data visualization, application creation and scheduled tasks. It suits office workers and creators who want an agent to work with selected files and connected services. Tasks can use local workspaces, assistants, skills and connectors; generated results require review for accuracy and authorization before use.

Mac installation and hardware

Install the official China-market DMG or use brew install --cask workbuddy-cn. The exact 5.7.6.40409493-306add2a ARM64 DMG is 357,195,805 bytes. The official Mac guide requires macOS 12 Monterey or later and distinguishes Apple Silicon ARM64 from Intel X64. ARM64 does not run on Intel; X64 on Apple Silicon may use Rosetta. No fixed RAM minimum is stated. Large files, local projects and model-assisted workflows need additional memory/storage. International WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy packages are not assumed identical to this distribution.

Identity, network and fees

The China guide describes browser sign-in through workbuddy.cn, with WeChat QR, phone, email or SSO options and acceptance of the service/privacy terms. AI inference, online research, connectors and cloud tasks need network access and service availability. The proprietary hosted service uses plans and credits; model, image generation and other workloads can consume different entitlements. A downloaded installer does not guarantee unlimited free inference. Custom models and connected providers may require separate credentials and charges.

Permissions and safeguards

Default permissions use a workspace boundary and prompt for protected paths, important deletions, commands or sensitive network actions. Full access broadens what agents can do; use isolated copies and inspect proposed actions. Automatic backups are limited and do not replace independent backups. On macOS, optional Full Disk Access permits access to all files, Accessibility supports shortcuts, and Automation permits controlling other apps. Enable only features you need. Connector authorization, custom MCP tools, skills and extensions can expose data or execute actions through third-party services; review scopes and revoke unused access. Model outputs and prompt instructions are not reliable authority to publish, spend money or alter important records.

Versions and official media

The official changelog gives 5.7.6, 5.6.2 and 5.5.6 family entries, but does not independently identify the catalog's long build/hash suffixes. Notes retain that limitation; overseas Gmail support in 5.7.6 is not promised for this China package. The linked official guide image visibly shows Windows 5.6.0 despite its Mac-guide filename; it is a historical illustration, not this Mac build. No verified raster app icon was obtained.
