Vesktop
Vencord · An unofficial cross-platform Discord desktop client with Vencord preinstalled, plugin and theme settings, and Linux-focused screen-sharing features.
紹介
Vesktop is a free/libre, unofficial Discord desktop application maintained by the Vencord project. It packages a Discord experience with Vencord preinstalled rather than requiring users to patch the official Discord client. It is not an official Discord product.
Client and customization
The official README describes a lighter desktop client with Vencord included. The interface exposes Vencord plugin, theme, updater and custom-CSS settings. The project emphasizes privacy through separating Discord from direct system access; this is an upstream design claim, not a claim that chats become end-to-end encrypted.
Platform distinctions
Vesktop supports macOS and Linux, but its advertised screen sharing with sound and Wayland support is Linux-specific. Do not assume those Linux capabilities apply to the Mac build. The README lists global keybinds as not yet supported and links a roadmap for limitations.
Installation and source builds
Homebrew records version 1.6.7 and installs vesktop.app from the official universal DMG. The cask requires macOS Monterey 12 or newer. Source builds use Git, Node.js and pnpm; install dependencies with pnpm i, then use pnpm start or pnpm package. Those development requirements are separate from using the packaged app.
Recorded changes
Version 1.6.7 fixes the updater, tray icon and a C++ library-too-old error. The latest three Homebrew-recorded versions are 1.6.7, 1.6.5 and 1.6.4; that selection is catalog history, not every upstream release. The official README screenshot shows an older Linux desktop interface and must not be represented as a current Mac screenshot.
