Input Source Pro

Input Source Pro helps multilingual Mac users manage keyboards and input methods. It automatically selects an input source for the active application or website and displays a configurable on-screen indicator of the current selection.

Context-aware switching

Set a default input source for each application and define website rules in supported browsers. The official project lists Safari, Chrome, Arc, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, Brave, Firefox, Zen and Dia among supported browsers; version 2.12.0 adds Helium rules. The indicator can follow the mouse pointer or text caret, depending on configuration and application support.

Keyboard workflow

Custom shortcuts can use normal key combinations or single/combined modifier keys, including press and double-tap gestures. App-specific Force English Punctuation helps keep symbols consistent in editors and terminals. Per-app function-key settings choose standard F1-F12 behavior or media-key behavior, falling back to the system default for apps without overrides.

Recent capabilities and requirements

Version 2.13.0 adds optional Caps Lock status, beta-update support and Additional cursor support. The latter requires Enhanced Mode and Cursor Helper setup under Position → Advanced. Version 2.13.1 fixes indicator preview sizing and alignment in settings. The official website and Homebrew require macOS 12 or later. Input Source Pro is free and open source under GPL-3.0, maintained by Runju (runjuu).

Installation

Install with brew install --cask input-source-pro or use the official download. Configure app rules, browser rules, indicator behavior and shortcuts in the application's settings. Source-build toolchain requirements in the repository are separate from requirements for running the downloaded Mac app.
