CodeRabbit CLI

CodeRabbit CLI brings CodeRabbit reviews into a terminal workflow. Review local Git changes before committing or raising a pull request, then inspect findings and decide whether to apply suggested changes. It is separate from the hosted pull-request review integration, although an account and organization can connect the workflows.

Local reviews and findings

Run a review in the intended repository and check which committed, staged or unstaged changes are included. Suggestions can identify potential correctness, security or performance issues, but generated findings require human judgment and can be incomplete or incorrect. Read the surrounding code, preserve useful local changes and run the relevant tests before accepting a fix. An AI review is not a guarantee that code is production-ready or free of vulnerabilities.

The CLI also supports workflows with external coding agents. Version 0.8.0 introduced deep reviews and cloud handoff; 0.8.1 added clearer handoff results and a cloud skill-import preview. Those cloud operations have their own account, organization and access requirements. A review running from a local terminal is not a promise that all analysis or source data remains on the machine.

Mac installation and access

The current catalog artifact is the official 0.8.2 Darwin ARM64 ZIP, exactly 26052607 bytes according to the publisher's download server. It targets Apple Silicon. A shell, a usable repository and network access are required for the documented review workflow. The inspected official sources do not establish a numeric minimum macOS for this exact binary. Follow the official setup and authentication instructions rather than installing or executing a script from a third-party page.

The publisher documents browser-based account authentication and region selection. Choose the correct US, EU or self-hosted organization context before reviewing sensitive code, and check the saved account and region afterward. Organization policy, SSO and repository configuration can affect access. Review configuration discovery and ignored paths so that the requested scope matches what you intend to send for analysis.

Plans and data handling

CodeRabbit offers limited free usage and paid plans with different capabilities and rate limits. Eligible usage-based reviews can incur additional charges after included capacity is exhausted. Review the actual allowance, spending caps and consent prompts before continuing with billable usage. Cloud handoff can transfer a summary, plan and available session transcript; inspect those files for credentials and confidential information before submitting them.

The downloadable CLI is an account-backed commercial service tool; public documentation does not establish an unrestricted open-source license for the binary. The official changelog has concrete entries for 0.8.1 and 0.8.0 but no verified 0.8.2 entry was found. The current package artifact remains 0.8.2, while refreshed version history includes 0.9.0. Features in 0.9.0 are documented only in its own version note; they are not attributed to the current 0.8.2 download.
