CleanMyMac CLI is MacPaw's terminal-based cleanup and storage-analysis tool. It is currently a public beta, with an interactive menu and direct commands. This cask installs the CLI application bundle and exposes the same tool as both cleanmymac and cmm; it is not the separate CleanMyMac desktop GUI.
Cleanup and project artifacts
cleanmymac clean scans system junk, developer-tool caches, AI-tool artifacts and Trash. Category commands focus on developer files, system junk, AI artifacts or Trash. Supported tools include package managers, Xcode and other development environments. cleanmymac purge finds generated dependencies and build artifacts in common project directories or a directory you specify. Artifacts older than seven days are preselected, while newer items remain unchecked for review.
Storage and maintenance
cleanmymac analyze opens an interactive disk-usage explorer, optionally starting at a specific path. Browsing does not change files; removal requires selection and confirmation. Optimization commands release inactive RAM and ask macOS to release space already marked as purgeable. They do not promise a particular performance improvement.
Safety and privacy
Review selected paths before confirming cleanup. An ignore list protects files and folders across scans. The official documentation says processing is local and source code and personal files are not uploaded; analytics can be disabled in configuration. The --force flag bypasses interactive confirmation for supported cleanup commands and deletes detected items immediately, so avoid it until you have reviewed the ordinary scan.
Setup and scope
The official README requires macOS 11 or later and Homebrew. Install with brew install --cask cleanmymac-cli, check cleanmymac --version, and launch cleanmymac or begin with cleanmymac analyze. Version 1.0.0 is the initial public beta. The linked repository provides official documentation; its current tree does not expose the application's implementation source, so this listing does not characterize the binary as open source.
