Descrizione

EBH is a font set based on the calligraphic hand of the 10th-century Exeter Book. It is intended for creating facsimiles, palaeography resources, and designs with medieval motifs. The Homebrew cask installs four distinct font files:

  • Facsimile: includes Old English characters, ligatures, historical letterforms, and medieval punctuation and abbreviations.
  • Alternates: offers contemporary letterforms interpreted in the scribal style, along with modern numerals, punctuation, and symbols.
  • Runes: covers Old English runes found in the manuscript and other runes used in the 10th century.
  • Initials: provides enlarged, often decorated letters for marking poem beginnings, including designs beyond those found in the manuscript.

Install the fonts with brew install --cask font-ebh. After installation, select the specific EBH font you want in a compatible application; this installs fonts, not a separate application. The four files included by this cask are EBH Alternates.otf, EBH Facsimile.otf, EBH Initials.otf, and EBH Runes.otf. The project describes its fonts as licensed under the SIL Open Font License.

Come installare EBH sul Mac

  1. Esegui in “Terminale”: brew install --cask font-ebh
  2. Homebrew installa il font in ~/Library/Fonts, dove Libro Font può usarlo.
