Tuist
Tuist GmbH and contributors · Command-line tooling for Swift-defined Xcode projects, build caching, selective testing and configured team build services.
Descripción
Tuist is an open-source command-line tool and companion platform for maintaining projects and improving build and test workflows. Its Xcode project-generation workflow describes projects in Swift manifests, while its wider platform provides caching, selective testing, build insights, previews and related integrations. This Homebrew cask installs the tuist command-line executable; it does not install the separate Tuist desktop preview application or a hosted server.
Main workflows
- Generate Xcode projects and workspaces from version-controlled Swift definitions.
- Manage modular project structures and dependency configuration.
- Reuse build artifacts locally and across configured team or CI environments.
- Run relevant test targets based on changes with selective testing.
- Connect supported builds and tests to companion insights and reporting.
- Share app previews through configured Tuist services.
Feature availability depends on the project type, CLI version, configuration and server. Installing the CLI alone does not provision cloud infrastructure or automatically accelerate every build.
Install and start
Install with brew install --cask tuist, or use the official installation guide for the recommended Mise workflow, which can pin a version per project. This cask places the tuist executable in Homebrew's bin directory. Check tuist --help for available commands and follow the project-specific setup guide. Existing repositories may pin a different Tuist version; use the version expected by the project rather than changing its manifests blindly.
Xcode-based generation, builds, tests and Apple-platform previews require the appropriate Xcode installation, selected developer directory, SDKs and simulators for the project. Tuist is not an Xcode replacement and does not include Apple's compiler toolchains. Gradle, Bazel and Linux integrations have their own toolchain and project requirements. Project-local commands need access to the working tree and build/output locations; remote workflows need network access and the appropriate credentials or organization membership.
Platform and download requirements
The verified 4.211.0 Mac ZIP contains a universal Intel x86-64 and Apple Silicon ARM64 CLI. Both Mach-O architectures declare macOS 15.0 as their deployment target, consistent with the tagged Swift package manifest. The cask itself currently does not encode a minimum macOS version; its broad platform listing must not be interpreted as evidence that this binary runs on older systems. Use macOS 15 or later for this artifact, with an Xcode version compatible with your project's SDK requirements.
The official ZIP is 56,807,829 bytes and its SHA-256 matches the recorded cask. Download size is not installed disk use. No single RAM or disk requirement applies to every project: source trees, SDKs, generated products and local caches affect usage. Linux ARM64 and x86-64 archives are separate release assets; Xcode workflows remain Mac-specific. A Windows CLI distribution was not established in the reviewed release.
Accounts, cloud services and cost
Local project generation is part of the open-source CLI and does not itself require purchasing a cloud plan. Hosted caching, insights, previews and runner workflows require their corresponding server/project configuration and authorization; use the official authentication and feature guides. Do not upload private artifacts to an endpoint without confirming the intended organization and its access policies.
Tuist's current hosted plans include Air, free within feature limits; Pro, with usage charges beyond free allowances; and custom Enterprise agreements, including self-hosting options. Generated projects and selective testing are listed as unlimited, while cache traffic and other metered services have their own allowances and rates. Consult the current pricing page for exact charges. Downloading the open-source CLI does not purchase hosted capacity.
License and accompanying media
The tagged repository's default license is MIT, including the CLI. Its server, kura and atlas directories are exceptions licensed under Mozilla Public License 2.0. These source licenses should be distinguished from hosted-service terms and pricing.

It is not a screenshot of a graphical interface installed by this CLI cask. The icon is the official Tuist brand asset published in the upstream application's resources.
