Mole for Mac
Tw93 · Native Mac utility for reviewing cleanup files, managing apps, analyzing disk space, maintaining macOS and monitoring system activity.
Descripción
Mole for Mac is Tw93's native graphical utility for reviewing cleanup candidates, managing applications, analyzing disk usage and monitoring system activity. It is useful for Mac users who want to inspect reclaimable files and app leftovers before deciding what to remove. It is not an antivirus, backup service or guarantee of a fixed amount of reclaimed space.
Features
- Scan supported caches, logs and leftover data and review individual cleanup items.
- Uninstall supported applications with related-file review and protection controls.
- Check updates from supported application sources and manage startup items.
- Run selected macOS maintenance tasks with clear results and skipped-task reasons.
- Explore a disk-usage treemap and identify large files and folders.
- Inspect live CPU, memory, disk and other supported system statistics.
The separate AI Cleanup area reviews supported tool caches, older versions, worktrees and sessions. Some features in the September documentation and 1.16.0 announcement are explicitly Preview features, so availability depends on the installed build and Preview settings. Do not assume every current documentation item is already in every stable download.
Install, permissions and platforms
Download the official DMG, drag Mole.app to Applications, or use brew install --cask mole-app. The official product and cask require macOS 14 or later. The reviewed public documentation does not explicitly establish the DMG's Intel and Apple Silicon binary architectures, so a generic Mac download must not be described as a verified Universal Binary without additional evidence.
Full Disk Access allows scans of protected locations; missing permission can leave folders unsized or skipped. Grant it only to the genuine app if you want those features. Certain system maintenance tasks request administrator authorization. macOS protection and files currently in use can still prevent an operation; permissions are not a promise to remove every protected item. The cask declares no separate formula dependency, but Homebrew-specific app updates require the appropriate Homebrew setup and store updates can require Apple's account or authorization workflow.
This package is the Mac GUI, not the free Mole CLI installed as a Homebrew formula. The project repository hosts the open-source CLI and shared support; their capabilities are not identical. The publisher's terms also mention a separately sold Windows edition with its own platform license; a Mac purchase is not a Windows entitlement. No Linux desktop application is established by these Mac product sources.
Review before removal
Cleanup is a write operation that can permanently delete files. Official documentation says caches are permanently deleted by default, with an option to route cleanup through Trash. Review paths and categories, protect items you need and keep independent backups. Emptying Trash or removing local Time Machine snapshots removes the corresponding recovery options; deleting a local snapshot does not delete an external backup, but it removes that local restore point.
Uninstalling an application can remove settings or personal support data. Sensitive items such as chat histories and virtual machines can be unchecked by default, but you should inspect each selection rather than relying on defaults. Large-file analysis is an information tool, not permission to delete every large file. System navigational roots are protected and some folders remain view-only. The system Storage category and Mole's measured cleanup size are different calculations and need not match.
Rebuildable caches can still cost time, network traffic or require exact dependency versions to restore. Review-only project outputs and model/session items have different consequences from disposable browser caches. The publisher says active data and protected items are preserved; this is a set of safety rules, not an unconditional guarantee against every data-loss scenario. Close only the relevant application when asked and avoid interrupting unrelated work.
Maintenance and update features can restart services, change startup behavior or update applications. Check the selected task and expected effect. Preview WiFi Low Latency temporarily pauses AirDrop and has documented restoration conditions; it should not be described as a permanent networking improvement with no tradeoff. Battery Care and hardware readings also depend on supported devices and may be unavailable on some systems.
Privacy, trial and license
The publisher says cleanup scans and results stay on the Mac and are not uploaded. License activation, app-update checks, downloads and optional store handoffs still use the network. Diagnostic reports can contain device, permission and recent-operation information; inspect them before sending to support. Local operation is distinct from a promise that the entire app never makes network requests.
Scanning is always free. The documentation says each paid tool can be used twice without a license; ongoing paid operations require activation. The Mac app uses a paid one-time license with free updates and no recurring app subscription, currently covering two Macs. A license key is sent to the purchase email and devices can be managed in the app. Check current price, activation and refund terms before purchasing.
Mole for Mac is proprietary. Its non-exclusive perpetual license and redistribution restrictions are separate from the free CLI's GPL-3.0 license; public CLI source does not make this native GUI open source. Store, payment and other services have separate accounts and terms.
The official mutable Mole.dmg URL is 21,804,823 bytes according to the checked HTTP HEAD. This is the current download endpoint's size, not an immutable checksum-confirmed size for every catalog version. Installed data and scan caches require additional space.
