Parsec

Parsec streams a computer's desktop and accepts remote input for personal access, collaborative gaming, playtesting and creative work. It suits users connecting to their own machine or approved collaborators using a host computer. Low latency and image quality depend on hardware encoding/decoding, network conditions and settings; it does not move the host application's license or compute workload onto the client.

Mac installation and distribution evidence

Run the official PKG or use brew install --cask parsec. The current unversioned Parsec Mac PKG is exactly 3,430,687 bytes. Inspection found bundle version 150.101.1 and bundled runtime parsecd-150-101a, so this is a bootstrap/update distribution, not independently verified archived bytes for catalog 150-104a. The catalog's latest three versions still have exact official product release notes.

The official Mac guide requires macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, Metal support and a case-insensitive filesystem. Hosting strongly recommends 2019 Mac hardware or newer, including Apple Silicon; older hosts are not guaranteed. The older bootstrap plist's 10.9 deployment floor is not substituted for current supported OS requirements. No specific Mac RAM minimum is supplied in the cited compatibility matrix. Host encoding, client decoding, display availability and network throughput matter. Remote login-screen access requires a different installer and additional setup; this normal package does not imply that feature is ready.

Accounts, hosting and permissions

Sign into a Parsec account; access to your own host uses the same credentials, while guests need approved sharing/session access. The host must remain available and have suitable connectivity. On macOS hosting requires Screen Recording and input-control permissions such as Accessibility; approve them only for intended hosts. Optional audio capture uses the documented audio driver/setup, and multi-channel sound needs compatible host/client configurations. Administrative installation and broad remote-control access deserve careful review. Restrict approved applications, protect credentials and remove unused collaborators.

Costs and privacy limits

Parsec is proprietary. Personal/free and paid Warp or Teams offerings have different feature and usage terms; business use and enterprise controls should be checked against the current plan. Downloading the client does not provide a hosted computer or rights to commercial games and creative applications. Network and any rented/cloud host have separate costs. Remote viewers can see screen content and authorized users can issue input, so close private windows and disconnect sessions when finished. Latency, packet loss and hardware incompatibility can make real-time control unreliable; retain a local recovery path for important hosts.

Official exact notes cover 150-104a, 150-103a and 150-102b, with Windows/Web/Linux changes identified separately. The official homepage provides a rendered host-list interface illustration, not a screenshot proving the Mac 150-104a layout. The publisher-linked Parsec GitHub organization supplies the Parsec product-family mark; it is not asserted as the exact icon embedded in Mac 150-104a.
