Beschreibung

Microsoft Dev Tunnels lets developers share selected local web services through a Microsoft-managed tunnel. It is useful for testing webhooks, demonstrations and accessing a development endpoint from another device. The tunnel service is not a replacement for securing the application itself or a production hosting arrangement.

Access controls and workflow

The official CLI documentation covers login, creating tunnels and ports, hosting, listing and managing tunnel resources. Hosting forwards traffic to the local service you choose. Restrict access to the intended users and ports; anonymous access is a deliberate configuration choice, not a requirement to expose everything. Keep tunnel tokens and credentials private, and stop or remove test access when it is no longer needed.

Requirements and artifact

This catalog uses the official osx-arm64-devtunnel binary 1.0.2094+24665e6583, 28,955,696 bytes, for Apple Silicon. Intel Macs use the separate osx-x64 binary. A numeric minimum macOS for this exact build was not established from the inspected official documentation. The download is a command-line executable rather than a graphical Mac application.

Privacy, network and terms

Tunnels require network access to Microsoft's service and carry traffic between remote clients and the local application. Consider the content of test requests, logs and credentials before exposing a service. Access control at the tunnel boundary does not authorize the underlying API's business operations. Microsoft service terms and privacy documentation apply to the hosted service. The official Dev Tunnels FAQ identifies CLI-specific license terms at first use, and the publisher link https://aka.ms/devtunnels/tos resolves to Microsoft’s Dev Tunnels Public Preview software EULA. This proprietary license permits development, testing and demonstrations with Visual Studio and successor Microsoft products/services. It restricts redistribution and stand-alone offerings; it is not the SDK repository’s MIT license. The terms describe preview reliability limits, automatic updates and data collection, including some scenarios without an opt-out. Review the complete applicable terms before use.

Exact release and media gaps

The production history includes 1.0.2094+24665 e 6583, 1.0.2092+48 b 908982 b and 1.0.2086+eb 5 ddeb 517. The inspected official repository publishes SDK releases, but exact CLI-build change lists for these three binaries were not found. No SDK changelog is relabelled as a CLI update. A dedicated product raster icon remains unverified. The supplied Microsoft Learn image shows real Dev Tunnels output within Windows Visual Studio, illustrating local-to-tunnel URL forwarding. It is a companion development workflow, not a Mac command-line binary capture; no terminal output is invented.
