Vorssaint
Vorssaint and contributors · Free, modular Mac menu bar toolkit with per-app audio, system monitoring, window controls, capture tools, clipboard utilities, and an optional Dynamic Island.
About
Vorssaint is a free, open-source macOS menu bar toolkit that combines audio controls, system monitoring, window management, capture tools, clipboard utilities, and other everyday Mac helpers in one configurable app. It is useful for Mac users who want several small utilities without maintaining separate subscriptions or filling the menu bar with many applications.
Main features
- Adjust volume and output per application, boost quiet audio, and control microphones without an additional audio driver.
- Monitor CPU, GPU, memory, temperatures, battery, network activity, and supported fan controls with graphs and optional alerts.
- Manage window layouts, app switching, Dock previews, shortcuts, mouse behavior, and quit protection.
- Capture screenshots or recordings, recognize text, pick colors, edit media, and optionally share temporary links.
- Use clipboard history, text snippets, a file Shelf, Scratchpad notes, a Command Bar, and configurable radial menus.
- Enable an optional experimental Dynamic Island for music, timers, calendars, notifications, downloads, and local AI-agent activity; select only the features you need.
Installation and first use
Install brew install --cask vorssaint, then open Vorssaint.app from Applications. Official disk images can also be downloaded from the GitHub releases page and dragged to Applications. Official builds are Developer ID signed and notarized. Choose features or a preset during setup, review each requested permission, and customize panel sections and shortcuts in Settings. Features can be disabled or uninstalled from the feature hub without removing the whole app.
Requirements, dependencies, and conflicts
The current release requires an Apple Silicon Mac and macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Intel Macs and native Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android installations are not supported by this Mac application. Homebrew declares the architecture and macOS minimum, no extra formula dependency, and no explicit cask conflict.
Permissions are feature-specific and optional. Accessibility enables input and window controls; Screen Recording enables previews and capture; System Audio Recording is used for the mixer and audio capture. Microphone, Camera, Calendars, Notifications, Files and Folders, Automation, App Management, Full Disk Access, or one-time administrator approval are requested only for features that use them. Declining a permission leaves unrelated features usable. Hardware-specific display and fan features depend on the Mac and connected devices. Homebrew management requires Homebrew; it is not a prerequisite for unrelated utility features. Building from source requires Xcode Command Line Tools, not ordinary use of the downloaded app.
Other apps that control the same shortcuts, window gestures, audio routes, or display brightness may interact even though the cask declares no package conflict. Configure overlapping features deliberately. Before upgrading from 3.3.5 to 3.4.0, the publisher instructs users to disable Extra Brightness so it cannot cover the administrator password prompt.
Accounts, costs, privacy, and license
Vorssaint requires no account or subscription and is free to use; donations are optional. The publisher describes it as local-first, without analytics or tracking. Visible network-dependent features include update checks, speed tests, package-manager actions, optional online lyrics, temporary sharing links, and feedback explicitly submitted by the user. AI-agent usage displays summarize local agent data rather than granting a paid AI service entitlement.
