Uninstall V2rayU and optional data cleanup

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --cask v2rayu

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

Uninstalling also removes

Background services (launchctl)
yanue.v2rayu.http
yanue.v2rayu.v2ray-core

Deep clean (optional)

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --zap --cask v2rayu

--zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out --zap.

Questions about V2rayU

Is V2rayU safe?

Homebrew has disabled V2rayU (it fails macOS Gatekeeper checks), so it can no longer be installed with Homebrew. It was disabled on Sep 1.

How do I completely uninstall V2rayU on a Mac?

Run brew uninstall --cask v2rayu. It stops 2 background services. To delete its settings and caches as well, run brew uninstall --zap --cask v2rayu. --zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out --zap. That also deletes 8 files and folders, including ~/.V2rayU.

Does V2rayU run on Apple silicon (M1 and later) Macs?

Yes. Homebrew downloads separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It needs macOS 14 or later.

Where does V2rayU store its settings and data?

Its settings are in ~/Library/Preferences/net.yanue.V2rayU.plist. Its data is in ~/.V2rayU, ~/Library/Application Support/net.yanue.V2rayU, and ~/Library/Containers/net.yanue.V2rayU.Launcher. These locations come from Homebrew’s clean-up list.

What is the latest version of V2rayU?

The latest version is 5.2.0, added to Homebrew on Aug 2. V2rayU updates itself; to update it with Homebrew, run brew upgrade --cask --greedy v2rayu.
