Eclipse Temurin 25

Eclipse Temurin 25 is an OpenJDK-based Java 25 development kit from the Eclipse Adoptium project. It is for Java developers and users of applications that explicitly require a Java 25 runtime. It supplies the HotSpot JVM and development tools rather than a graphical IDE.

Mac installation and selecting Java

Install with brew install --cask temurin@25, or use the official macOS PKG matching Intel or Apple Silicon. The PKG installer can require administrator authorization. Temurin installs under /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/; it is not a standalone Applications-folder GUI. Check available JVMs with /usr/libexec/java_home -V, and select Java 25 for your shell or application using the appropriate JAVA_HOME and PATH configuration. Other installed Java major versions can coexist; the selected JVM determines which version an application runs.

Requirements and platforms

The current cask offers Intel and Apple Silicon packages, declares no separate formula dependency or explicit cask conflict, and has an empty macOS dependency object. This does not establish support on every macOS release. Consult Adoptium's current supported-platform table and your application's Java compatibility requirements; an exact numeric macOS minimum for this package was not established by the inspected catalog and installation documentation.

Adoptium distributes platform-specific binaries for supported macOS, Windows and Linux architecture combinations. Choose the package for your operating system and architecture; the Mac cask does not install Windows or Linux builds. A Java 25 JDK is not a substitute for an Android or iOS application runtime, and application dependencies can impose additional OS, native library, memory or disk requirements.

No universal RAM or installed-disk requirement was confirmed. The official current Apple Silicon PKG asset is 136,896,088 bytes; this is download size. The catalog's comma suffix in 25.0.4.1,1 records a build component and does not represent a separate upstream version from 25.0.4.1.

Accounts, price and licensing

Temurin is free to download and use without an Adoptium account or mandatory subscription. The OpenJDK code is provided under GPL version 2 with the Classpath Exception, with additional component notices where applicable. Eclipse branding is subject to separate trademark rules. Commercial support is available from ecosystem providers under their own contracts and is not bundled into the free download.
