Parallels Desktop
A Mac virtualization application for running Windows and other operating systems alongside macOS.
About
Parallels Desktop is a virtualization application for Mac that lets you run Windows and other operating systems in virtual machines alongside macOS. The parallels@18 Homebrew cask installs the Parallels Desktop 18 variant; it is separate from the unversioned cask and the parallels@19 and parallels@20 variants.
With this version, you can:
- Run Windows applications alongside Mac applications, with options to show Windows in a window or full screen, or use Coherence mode to hide the Windows desktop.
- Move and share files between macOS and Windows, including opening Mac files from within Windows.
- Use Mac hardware such as the camera, microphone, trackpad, display, keyboard, and mouse in Windows; USB devices such as printers and scanners can also be connected.
- Run Linux distributions in virtual machines, as well as Windows.
To install, run brew install --cask parallels@18. Homebrew installs Parallels Desktop.app in /Applications and runs an initialization step that requires administrator privileges. The cask depends on macOS and conflicts with the unversioned parallels cask and the parallels@19 and parallels@20 casks. The product is offered in separate editions; available features and virtual-machine resource limits vary by edition.
