How to install Novation Play on Mac

  1. In Terminal, run: brew install --cask novation-play
  2. Homebrew runs the Play.pkg installer, which asks for an administrator password.

Install without Homebrew

Download the same file Homebrew uses: play.novationmusic.com/Play_1_0_0.dmg

Uninstall Novation Play and optional data cleanup

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --cask novation-play

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

Homebrew has disabled Novation Play (the Homebrew definition explains why), so it can no longer be installed with Homebrew. It was disabled on Feb 22.

How do I completely uninstall Novation Play on a Mac?

Run brew uninstall --cask novation-play. It forgets 1 installer receipt. To delete its settings and caches as well, run brew uninstall --zap --cask novation-play. --zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out --zap. That also deletes 4 files and folders, including /Library/Application Support/Novation/Play.

Does Novation Play run on Apple silicon (M1 and later) Macs?
