Macs Fan Control
CrystalIDEA Software · Monitor temperature sensors and fan speeds on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, with automatic, fixed-RPM and sensor-based fan control.
About
Macs Fan Control monitors fan speeds and temperature sensors on Apple computers. Its two-table interface shows fans alongside temperature readings, including supported third-party drive temperatures through S.M.A.R.T. Select a fan to keep Apple's automatic control, set a fixed RPM, or relate its speed to a chosen temperature sensor.
Controls and hardware
Automatic mode leaves fan control to the system. Custom mode can use a constant speed or a sensor-based curve with selected temperature thresholds. The menu bar can display a fan speed or temperature reading. The publisher states that quitting the app restores fans to automatic control. Available fans and sensors depend on the Mac model; fanless machines do not gain physical cooling hardware through software. Recent releases add support for M5-family laptops and missing sensors on the Mac Studio M3 Ultra.
Begin by observing temperatures under normal workloads. A manual RPM or inappropriate sensor threshold can change cooling behavior, noise and power consumption. Keep a way to return to automatic mode, avoid treating a lower sensor reading as proof that all components are cool, and investigate persistent overheating or mechanical fan faults separately. The app does not repair hardware or guarantee safe temperatures for every workload.
Mac requirements
The official current download page lists macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later, with separate legacy downloads for older systems. The publisher supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs; select a compatible download and verify model support in release notes. The catalog's version 1.5.21 ZIP is 23779937 bytes in the official GitHub asset record. Windows support is for Apple hardware running Windows through Boot Camp; this is not a promise of fan control on arbitrary Windows PCs.
Free and Pro editions
The basic application is free proprietary software. The publisher sells a separate Pro upgrade, with custom fan presets among the premium capabilities. Check the current store for license terms, supported platforms and pricing before purchasing. The public GitHub repository is used for issues, translations and binary releases; it does not establish that the app source is open source. Monitoring your own hardware does not require a cloud service, but downloading updates and visiting support resources uses a network connection.
