Ciro Mattia Gonano, Paweł Jastrzębski, Darodi, and Alex Xu · A macOS app for converting comics and manga into reader-friendly files for e-ink devices.
Kindle Comic Converter is a Reading & News app for Mac.
About
Kindle Comic Converter (KCC) is a graphical macOS app for preparing comics and manga for e-ink readers. It processes black-and-white and color pages, with the aim of fitting them to a reader’s screen and displaying fixed-layout pages without margins.
- Accepts image folders and files, including JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP; it can also process CBZ, ZIP, CBR, RAR, CB7, 7Z, and PDF inputs. Some archive formats require the separate
7zexecutable, and PDF input is limited to extracting JPG images. - Exports formats including MOBI/AZW3, EPUB, KEPUB, CBZ, PDF, and image folders.
- Offers device profiles and image-processing options such as cropping and resizing, plus semi-automatic detection of two-page spreads.
- The app workflow is to add input in the KCC window, convert it, then transfer the resulting file to the reader over USB. For Kobo, choosing a Kobo profile with EPUB output produces KEPUB.
Install with brew install --cask kindle-comic-converter, then open Kindle Comic Converter from Applications. Optional tools are needed for some capabilities: 7z is required for certain archive inputs and advanced features, and KindleGen is needed for MOBI conversion; the project documentation says it can be detected after installing Kindle Previewer on macOS. On macOS with a 2022-or-newer Kindle, the project notes that a separate transfer app may be needed to copy files over USB.
The Homebrew cask installs the graphical app, not the project’s separate command-line tools. KCC is not Amazon’s Kindle Comic Creator and is not endorsed by Amazon.
