About

Julia is a programming language designed for technical and scientific computing. This julia-app@lts cask installs the long-term-support variant as the Julia-1.10.app application and provides the julia-lts command-line executable. It is not the current-release cask.

Julia combines dynamic typing and interactive use with compilation to native code. Its language supports multiple dispatch, metaprogramming, asynchronous I/O, debugging, profiling, and a package manager. The language also provides built-in primitives for parallel computing, including multithreading and distributed computing. Julia can be used for numerical and scientific work, data analysis, and general-purpose programming; additional functionality is available through its package ecosystem.

To install this cask, run brew install --cask julia-app@lts. The cask requires macOS Tahoe (26) or later. After installation, open the Julia application or run julia-lts from a terminal to start Julia. This cask does not install the executable under the generic julia command name.

  • Compiles Julia programs to native code using LLVM.
  • Supports interactive work as well as separately compiled programs.
  • Includes language features for composing code through multiple dispatch and metaprogramming.
  • Provides built-in facilities for parallel computing and package management.
