Google Cloud CLI
Google · A command-line toolset for managing Google Cloud projects, cloud resources, and applications, suited for terminal operations and automated deployment.
About
Google Cloud CLI is Google's command-line tool set for cloud resources, suited to cloud platform developers, operations staff, and teams that need automated deployment.
Main features
- Use gcloud to manage projects, identity permissions, compute instances, and cloud service configurations.
- Use bq to work with BigQuery, and use Cloud Storage commands or gsutil to manage object storage.
- Write resource operations into scripts, and combine service accounts and permission policies to perform automated tasks.
- Install additional tools on demand through the component manager; some commands are in alpha or beta.
Installation and usage On Mac, you can install it with brew install --cask gcloud-cli. Run gcloud init to complete sign-in and project configuration, and use gcloud version to check the tool version. Homebrew data shows that this Cask depends on [email protected]; the installation process configures a Python virtual environment. Executables for additional components may require adding share/google-cloud-sdk/bin under the Homebrew prefix to PATH.
Platforms and dependencies The currently listed installation package provides macOS builds for Apple Silicon and Intel; the project also provides installation methods for Linux and Windows. The specific operating system, architecture, and supported Python versions are subject to the official installation documentation and the selected distribution package. The current Homebrew record does not list a conflicts_with item; this does not mean it can be unconditionally mixed with all other installation channels.
Accounts and costs Accessing cloud resources usually requires a Google Cloud identity, project, and corresponding IAM permissions; creating or using a specific cloud service may require enabling billing. Installing the CLI tool and billing for cloud service usage are separate matters; verify costs according to the pricing and quotas of the services used. Component licenses and terms of service are subject to Google's official published content.

Caveats
To use additional binary components installed via gcloud, add the "$HOMEBREW_PREFIX/share/google-cloud-sdk/bin" directory to your PATH environment variable, e.g., (for Bash shell): export PATH=$HOMEBREW_PREFIX/share/google-cloud-sdk/bin:"$PATH"
