About
Monaspice is the Nerd Fonts-patched edition of GitHub Next's Monaspace type superfamily. The official family documentation describes five distinct, metrics-compatible typefaces that can be mixed while preserving their typographic alignment. The Nerd Fonts 3.5.1 family README identifies the base Monaspace version as 1.400; 3.5.1 is the Nerd Fonts collection version, not the original typeface version.
Nerd Fonts adds developer-oriented icon glyphs from collections including Codicons, Devicons, Font Awesome, Octicons, Powerline symbols, and other sets. Choose Nerd Font Mono when fixed-width icons are required, the standard Nerd Font variant for larger icons when supported by your terminal, or Nerd Font Propo for proportional contexts. The documentation says ligatures are generally preserved; a ligature-aware terminal can disable them in its own settings.
The patched fonts use the name Monaspice rather than Monaspace to comply with the SIL Open Font License reserved-font-name mechanism. This package installs font files, not a standalone graphical application. On macOS, install with brew install --cask font-monaspice-nerd-font, then select an installed Monaspice family in your terminal or editor. The recorded Homebrew artifact includes regular, italic, and multiple-weight OTF variants. No standalone application icon or genuine Mac application screenshot is established for this font-only package.
