About

Mengshen Pinyin Handwritten is the handwritten variant of the Mengshen Pinyin font family for Chinese and Japanese learners. It adds pinyin annotations to Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters, and also supports Japanese kanji, hiragana and katakana. The official project describes pinyin coverage for 16,026 Chinese characters.

The handwritten variant is based on Xiaolai Font and SetoFontSP. Contextual reading changes for polyphonic characters use the OpenType GSUB rclt feature; Unicode IVS provides manual reading selection. Automatic switching depends on support in the application displaying the text.

Install with brew install --cask font-mengshen-handwritten. This cask installs only Mengshen-Handwritten.ttf into the user font library, not a standalone application and not the separate serif variant. Select the font in an application that allows choosing installed fonts. Consult the official IVS and Word setup guides for application-specific behavior.

How to install Mengshen Pinyin Handwritten on Mac
