About
Atkinson Hyperlegible is the original font in the Braille Institute’s family, designed to make similar-looking letters and numbers easier to distinguish. This Homebrew cask installs the original font—not Atkinson Hyperlegible Next or Atkinson Hyperlegible Mono—and places four OpenType files in the user’s Fonts folder.

- Regular
- Italic
- Bold
- Bold Italic
The design uses features such as open counters and differentiated letterforms to improve character distinction. The Braille Institute describes the original font as supporting accented characters for 27 languages; this does not establish complete Unicode coverage. The official site states that the font is free for personal and commercial use, subject to its end-user license agreement.
Install with brew install --cask font-atkinson-hyperlegible. Once installed, select Atkinson Hyperlegible in an application’s font settings to use it. This package installs fonts, not a standalone application. The Braille Institute also offers separate Next and Mono versions; they are not included by this cask.
