Emacs
GNU Emacs contributors; Mac builds by David Caldwell · The macOS pretest cask for GNU Emacs installs the Emacs.app editor plus command-line tools and man pages.
About
Emacs is a GNU text editor distributed here as the macOS pretest build, rather than the regular or nightly cask. This package installs Emacs.app and provides the emacs command, along with ebrowse, emacsclient, and etags. It also installs man pages for those four tools. The supplied build is a universal disk image; Homebrew selects the corresponding bundled command-line tool paths for Apple silicon or Intel Macs.
Install it with Homebrew Cask:
brew install --cask emacs-app@pretest
Open Emacs from Emacs.app in Applications, or start the editor from a terminal with emacs. The installed emacsclient command is also available. This is a pretest release, not the regular stable or nightly cask. It requires macOS, and it conflicts with the emacs-app and emacs-app@nightly casks, so those cannot be installed alongside it through Homebrew Cask.
The cask is described as a GNU Emacs text editor; this entry does not imply additional bundled extensions or services. See the project site for the Mac build and the Homebrew cask definition for installation details.
