About

Amazon Corretto 25 supplies the Java 25 development kit: the Java runtime, compiler and standard development tools. It is intended for Java applications and development workflows, rather than a desktop application with its own graphical dashboard. Check that your application and build tools support Java 25 before changing the selected JDK.

Exact package and requirements

The catalog download is the official macOS aarch64 installer for Corretto 25.0.4.10.1, 218,400,911 bytes. It targets Apple Silicon. Intel users need the separate x86_64 distribution. The exact version-tagged changelog lists macOS 14.0 or later for both architectures. The general installation guide still says macOS 11 or later; use the stricter exact-build target requirements rather than assuming the older generic text covers this update.

Installation and coexistence

The official macOS guide describes installing the PKG and locating the JDK under /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines. Installing system-wide software requires appropriate administrator authorization. JAVA_HOME and the shell PATH determine which JDK a terminal or build tool uses; multiple JDKs can coexist, so verify the selected version in your own environment. This catalog update does not execute or install the package on your computer.

License and data handling

Corretto is a no-cost open-source OpenJDK distribution. The exact tagged LICENSE contains GPL version 2 and the Classpath exception for designated files; bundled components can have additional terms. No AWS account is required merely to use the downloaded JDK. A Java application's file access and network behavior depend on that application and the permissions of the account running it; a JDK alone does not guarantee application privacy or sandboxing.

Version-specific changes

All three catalog builds have distinct, official changelog sections. The newest build updates time-zone data, fixes a VM metadata memory leak and corrects macOS version metadata. The preceding build updates the OpenJDK baseline and documents security fixes. The older build includes synchronization and gzip fixes. Linux-only changes are not presented as Mac improvements.

The supplied AWS tutorial image is a genuine historical browser example showing Tomcat/JSP runtime properties after installing Corretto 8.232.09.1 on Linux ARM64 in 2019. It illustrates a companion Java application workflow, not a Corretto graphical interface, current Corretto 25 behavior or a Mac installation. A dedicated Corretto product icon is not inferred from the generic AWS company mark.
