About

BetterTouchTool is a macOS app for customizing input devices and automating tasks. It can connect a gesture, button press, keyboard shortcut, or other supported trigger to one or more actions.

  • Configure trackpad and Magic Mouse gestures, mouse buttons, keyboard shortcuts, and key sequences.
  • Build automations by chaining actions or using conditions such as the active app, focused window, Wi-Fi network, or time of day.
  • Customize the menu bar and create floating menus, HUDs, and widgets.
  • Use scripting and remote-control options including JavaScript, AppleScript, the btt:// URL scheme, a built-in web server, a CLI, and OSC.
  • Set up supported hardware inputs, including Stream Deck devices, MIDI controllers, macro pads, and game controllers.

Install the alpha cask with brew install --cask bettertouchtool@alpha. The cask installs BetterTouchTool.app in /Applications and requires macOS 12 or later. It conflicts with the bettertouchtool cask, so do not install both together. After installation, open the app and configure the triggers and actions you want to use. The official site describes a 45-day trial and license purchase; this cask is the alpha variant.
