PCSX2
PCSX2 · A free, open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for playing compatible PS2 games on desktop computers, with stable and nightly builds.
介绍
PCSX2 is a free, open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for Windows, Linux and macOS. It recreates PS2 hardware through MIPS CPU interpreters and recompilers and a virtual machine that manages hardware state and system memory.
Game compatibility
The project has been developed for more than 20 years. The official README describes support for most games at full speed on suitable hardware and links a compatibility database with more than 2,500 tested titles. Check the official compatibility entry for each game rather than assuming every title behaves identically or runs at the same speed.
Setup and legal requirements
A BIOS dump from a legitimately owned PlayStation 2 console is required. The emulator does not supply that BIOS. Follow the official BIOS guide and setup documentation, and use game copies you are authorized to run. Hardware and operating-system requirements are documented separately by the project.
macOS package
This exact Homebrew cask installs PCSX2.app from the official versioned macOS Qt archive. Homebrew records version 2.8.2 and declares a Rosetta requirement, which matters on Apple-silicon Macs. Stable and nightly downloads are separate upstream channels; this listing covers the stable Homebrew-recorded package, not a nightly build.
Recorded updates
The latest three backend-recorded versions are 2.8.2, 2.8.1 and 2.6.3. The official 2.8.2 notes address Vulkan/MoltenVK compatibility on older GPUs, an achievements deadlock, Direct3D 11 bindings and the controller database. Some listed fixes are platform-specific and should not be interpreted as macOS changes. The official 2.8.1 release body is empty, so no changes are inferred for it.
