AltServer

AltServer is the desktop companion to AltStore Classic. It runs on the Mac and receives signed applications from AltStore on an iOS device, then installs them using iTunes Wi-Fi sync. This package is the macOS server application, not the iOS AltStore client or the separate AltStore PAL marketplace.

Signing and refresh workflow

The official repository describes signing apps with a personal development certificate associated with an Apple ID. AltStore sends the resigned apps to AltServer for installation. When the device is on the same Wi-Fi network as AltServer, AltStore can refresh apps in the background to prevent their signatures from expiring. The workflow therefore depends on the companion server and device connectivity rather than making every sideloaded app permanently installed.

macOS package

Homebrew records AltServer 1.8.1 and installs AltServer.app from the official versioned ZIP. The cask requires macOS 12 or later. The repository's minimum project requirements describe development builds and should not be substituted for the recorded installer requirement.

AltServer is included in the open-source AltStore repository maintained by Riley Testut and the altstoreio organization.
