介紹

XnView MP is a cross-platform image viewer, organizer and converter for people who browse large photo folders or work with many image formats. It combines thumbnail-based navigation, viewing, metadata tools and batch operations in one desktop application.

Image workflows

View supported raster, RAW and other image formats, inspect metadata, compare images and find duplicates. Resize, crop, adjust color, rename or convert files in batches, and create slideshows or contact sheets. Format support depends on the decoder and release; recent fixes cover JPEG XL, PNG, PSD, HEIF and archive handling. Keep originals when using batch conversions or edits, especially with metadata and high-bit-depth files.

Installation and requirements

Download the official Mac DMG and move the app into Applications, or use brew install --cask xnviewmp. The current 1.12.2 product page and cask require macOS 13 or later; the publisher lists Mac Intel and ARM, 64-bit. A previous official-server measurement of the 1.12.1 artifact was 138,352,835 bytes; this is not a verified size for current 1.12.2. The page separately offers older 1.11.7 for macOS 10.13–12; do not apply its compatibility to 1.12.2. Windows and Linux have separate OS/architecture requirements. Large images, video and thumbnail databases need additional memory/storage; no fixed universal RAM minimum was established.

License, cost and connectivity

XnView MP is proprietary freeware for the uses listed on its official download page, including private and educational/non-profit use. Use in a company requires purchasing a license; check the current licensing terms for your organization. A free personal download is not an open-source license or blanket permission for commercial deployment. Local viewing and editing do not require a cloud photo account. Downloads, updates and optional online/upload functions require network access and can involve external services with their own terms.

Permissions and practical cautions

Grant access only to the image folders and output locations you intend to manage. Metadata can contain location, camera and author information; review it before sharing images. Batch rename, deletion and conversion can change many files, so test on copies and verify destination paths. The inspected sources do not establish a blanket Accessibility, Screen Recording or Full Disk Access requirement for ordinary viewing. Capture features, protected directories or removable storage may have their own operating-system prompts. Treat malformed or untrusted media cautiously and keep the application updated; the official change tracker includes startup-crash and decoder-related fixes.
