Postman CLI is Postman’s official signed command-line tool. The Homebrew cask installs the postman executable; it does not install the separate Postman desktop application or provide a standalone macOS graphical interface.

API testing and automation

The CLI runs Postman collections from a local path or an identifier, providing a terminal-based workflow for automated API tests and CI/CD pipelines. The current official overview also documents management of collections, environments and workspace elements, API specification validation, mocks, monitoring and performance tests. Availability of some commands depends on the Postman plan, and the live documentation describes the current CLI rather than guaranteeing every command exists in the recorded 1.70.0 build.

Working with scripts

The official documentation describes non-interactive execution and machine-readable --json output on many commands. A typical collection workflow uses postman collection run <path-or-id>. Authenticate with postman login when a workflow needs account access, or use the documented project initialization workflow where appropriate. Consult the command reference for options and account requirements before running in CI.

macOS package

Install this exact cask with brew install --cask postman-cli. The recorded Homebrew artifact for version 1.70.0 targets Apple silicon, with a separate Intel artifact. This package is distinct from Newman, the open-source collection runner, and from the Postman desktop app; their repositories or screenshots must not be represented as this executable. No official public source-code repository for this CLI distribution has been established from the inspected product documentation.
