介紹

Insomnia organizes API requests, environments and collections for development and debugging. Compose HTTP and GraphQL requests, inspect responses, test collections and work with supported WebSocket, SSE and gRPC services. Optional scripts, templates and plugins extend workflows and should be reviewed before use.

Storage choices and privacy

The official README distinguishes Local Vault, Git Sync and Cloud Sync. Local Vault stores project resources locally. Git Sync sends them to the repository you configure, while Cloud Sync uses the publisher's collaboration services and can optionally use end-to-end encryption. Choose a storage mode deliberately; a local collection does not make API requests themselves offline. Requests send headers, bodies and credentials to their configured endpoint. Remove secrets from exports, screenshots and shared environments.

Requirements and licensing

The latest recorded desktop release is 13.3.1. A previously checked 13.3.0 website-distribution DMG measured 380,807,655 bytes; this historical size does not describe 13.3.1. A numeric minimum macOS and exact architecture contents for the latest artifact were not independently established. Check the publisher’s compatibility requirements. The inspected [email protected] source LICENSE specifies Apache License 2.0 with Kong copyright attribution; bundled dependencies have their own terms. Hosted collaboration and account services have separate plans and terms; the source license does not include every hosted feature. 13.3.1 restores synchronous script substitution helpers and fixes CSV fields containing quoted commas.

Access and extensibility

Access to local certificates, imported collections or scripts depends on the paths you choose and macOS permissions. Plugins and request scripts can handle sensitive data or execute logic; the 13.3.0 QuickJS sandbox is explicitly opt-in and is not a blanket guarantee that every extension runs isolated. Proxy settings, authentication and endpoint trust remain your responsibility.

Version-specific evidence

13.3.0 and 13.2.0 have detailed exact official change lists. 13.1.0's release links a precise comparison from its last beta; that comparison contains a workspace-import targeting fix and a version bump, which are described without borrowing later release changes. A genuine tagged publisher API-client screenshot is available. The original product icon comes from the Insomnia Snap Store listing maintained by getinsomnia. The official Kong repository publishes Insomnia Snap packages through its release workflow. This is publisher Linux-store product-family branding; the historical artwork is not evidence of the current Mac binary icon or identical platform features.
