介紹

foobar2000 for macOS is a freeware audio player for Intel and Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 11 Big Sur or newer. The Mac edition has its own component downloads and changelog; Windows-only component availability should not be assumed.

Playback and library tools

The official overview documents mainstream audio-format playback, gapless playback, advanced tagging, ReplayGain and customizable keyboard shortcuts. A customizable interface and media library support browsing and organizing music. Internet radio integrates with Radio Browser. Network playback can control compatible audio players or another foobar2000 instance.

Processing and conversion

Built-in DSP effects and add-on components extend processing. The macOS edition supports Audio Units. Audio conversion and ReplayGain scanning are documented in the Mac changelog; 2.26 adds extensible post-conversion actions and new resamplers. Compatible add-ons can be obtained from the official macOS component directory.

Distribution and version scope

The official license names Peter Pawlowski as the player copyright holder. This is freeware under the foobar2000 license, not an asserted open-source application. No official public application source repository is established by these sources. The exact Homebrew DMG records 2.26. The latest three backend-recorded versions are 2.26, 2.25.10 and 2.25.9; the official changelog also contains 2.25.11, which is not substituted for a recorded version.
