WailBrew is an open-source graphical interface for Homebrew on macOS. Built with Wails, Go and React, it lets users manage packages and services without typing each Homebrew command in a terminal. Homebrew must already be installed.
Package and service management
Browse installed formulae and casks, search and filter packages, inspect dependencies and dependents, and install, uninstall or upgrade individual items or multiple selections. The leaves view helps identify packages for removal. Background update checks can show available updates in the Dock badge. Manage taps and start, stop, restart or run Homebrew services from the interface.
Maintenance and configuration
Built-in brew doctor diagnostics, cleanup dry-run previews and Brewfile export support routine maintenance. Version 0.13.0 adds Brewfile import and setup snapshots. Command-palette shortcuts, light and dark appearance, custom brew paths, proxy and mirror settings, and session logging provide additional control. Version 0.13.1 adds a selectable configuration location, an Xcode-license warning and improved package-size retrieval.
Installation and requirements
Install with brew install --cask wailbrew, or download an official GitHub release. The project's README requires macOS 11 or later for both Apple-silicon and Intel Macs and describes a universal application. WailBrew is MIT licensed and maintained by wickenico. Its official README provides troubleshooting and support links. Package operations still rely on Homebrew and the permissions and dependencies required by the selected software.
