Stats
exelban and contributors · Free, open-source Mac menu bar system monitor for CPU, GPU, memory, disks, network, battery, sensors, Bluetooth devices and clocks.
Описание
Stats is a native macOS system monitor that displays configurable resource indicators in the menu bar and detailed module popups. It suits users who want to observe load, storage, network activity and hardware readings without keeping a full monitoring window open.
Features
- Monitor CPU, GPU and memory utilization with histories and supported process details.
- Track disk utilization and network traffic and inspect interface information.
- Display battery charge, power-adapter information and supported Bluetooth-device battery readings.
- Inspect available temperature, voltage and power sensors.
- Choose compact menu bar styles, individual modules or a combined popup.
- Use multiple time-zone clocks and optional desktop widgets.
Installation and first use
Install brew install --cask stats, then open Stats.app in Applications. Alternatively download the official Stats.dmg, open it and drag the app to Applications. Enable the modules and widget styles you want in Stats settings; click a menu bar indicator to inspect details. On macOS 26, allow Stats under System Settings > Menu Bar if enabled indicators do not appear. Desktop-widget communication is disabled by default: enable macOS widgets in Stats settings when you need it. To read Wi-Fi network names, grant Location Services access to Stats and reopen the app; without permission the name can show Unknown.
Requirements and hardware limits
Stats supports stable macOS 12 Monterey and newer; beta macOS releases are not supported. The Homebrew cask includes Intel and Apple Silicon Mac variants and declares macOS >=12, with no extra formula dependency. Available sensors, GPU readings, batteries and fan capabilities depend on the Mac model and hardware. CPU/GPU temperature sensor labels describe thermal zones and do not necessarily correspond to individual cores or core counts. Fan control is a legacy feature that is not maintained, even though some releases improve its implementation. It may require the privileged SMC helper and is not a promise of support on every Mac. The official requirements do not specify fixed RAM or disk-space minimums. Monitoring has overhead; disabling unused Sensors or Bluetooth modules can reduce polling and energy use.
Conflicts and removal
Homebrew declares no named cask conflict; this does not guarantee compatibility with every hardware utility. Avoid conflicting fan-control settings from multiple applications. A manually installed Stats.app can occupy the same Applications path. The cask stops the Stats app and SMC helper on uninstall; optional zap cleanup also deletes preferences, caches and the privileged helper files. Removing the helper can require administrator privileges. Preserve settings you want to keep before cleanup.
Platforms, accounts and cost
Stats is free and open source under the MIT license. Local menu bar monitoring requires no subscription or System Stats account; donations are optional. This application is macOS-only, not a Windows, Linux or mobile system monitor. Optional Remote/System Stats integration is separate: authorizing a Mac requires a System Stats account and sends metrics to that service. Its service terms, availability and pricing apply independently; a free local app does not promise free remote service. The official SSH installation flow still needs an active Mac user session; a locked screen is acceptable, and a completely headless Mac starts the app at the next login.
Update checks and public-IP lookup can make external requests. Blocking the documented update/public-IP endpoints prevents those features. Optional remote monitoring has additional network activity; do not interpret local-monitoring privacy statements as a claim that enabled remote monitoring sends no data.
