Cascadia Code

Cascadia Code is Microsoft's open-source coding font, bundled with Windows Terminal and used as the default font in Visual Studio. It is a font family rather than a standalone macOS application; after installation, select it in a compatible terminal or editor.

Typography and editor support

Cascadia Code includes programming ligatures, arrow forms and OpenType stylistic sets. The italic face has a standard style and a cursive variant enabled through the ss01 feature. Support for these features depends on the application. The official README provides Visual Studio Code settings for enabling ligatures and stylistic sets. Variable TrueType fonts support weights from 200 to 700.

Exact Homebrew package

This stable cask records version 2407.24 and installs ttf/CascadiaCode.ttf and ttf/CascadiaCodeItalic.ttf into the user's Library/Fonts directory. The release archive also supplies other variants and formats, but this cask does not install the entire archive. Cascadia Mono omits ligatures; PL variants embed Powerline symbols, and NF variants include Nerd Font symbols. Those separate variants should not be assumed installed by this listing.

Installation caveat

The official project recommends uninstalling a previous version before installing a new one to avoid incorrect rendering. Select Cascadia Code in your editor after installing it and enable OpenType features only where supported. Release 2407.24 fixes hinting instructions on some Arabic glyphs.

No standalone application icon or genuine Mac application screenshot is established for this font-only package. Official specimen images illustrate typography, not an application interface.
