Descrição

Ghostty is a free, open-source terminal emulator for developers, system administrators and anyone who works with command-line tools. It combines GPU-accelerated terminal rendering with a native macOS interface and a GTK interface on Linux.

Features • Organize shells with native tabs and split panes, and find actions through the command palette. • Use configurable fonts, themes, key bindings, hyperlinks and the Kitty graphics protocol with compatible terminal applications. • Integrate with supported shells for prompt navigation and other terminal workflows. • On macOS, use the drop-down Quick Terminal and native features such as Quick Look, secure input and window-state restoration.

Installation and use Install with brew install --cask ghostty, or download the official signed and notarized DMG and drag Ghostty.app into Applications. Open Ghostty to start a shell; the terminal displays and runs your shell and command-line programs, which retain their own installation requirements. The Mac binary does not require you to install the Zig compiler or build Ghostty from source. See the official configuration documentation for themes, fonts and shortcuts.

Requirements and conflicts The current Homebrew cask requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and lists support for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. It conflicts with the ghostty@tip cask; choose the stable package or the prerelease package rather than installing both through Homebrew. The cask declares no additional Homebrew package dependencies. This does not remove the requirements of programs you launch inside the terminal. A fixed RAM or disk-space minimum is not stated in the cited installation documentation; download size is the installer size, not installed usage.

Platform support The project provides official prebuilt binaries for macOS. Linux uses a native GTK application, distributed through distribution maintainers and community packages; available versions and graphics/library requirements depend on the package and release. The 1.2 release raised the GTK frontend minimum to GTK 4.14, libadwaita 1.5 and OpenGL 4.3. FreeBSD is also referenced by the GTK release notes, but this Mac cask does not install a BSD or Linux package. The cited official installation guide does not offer a native Windows package.

Accounts, cost and license Ghostty itself needs no service account or subscription for local terminal use. It is free software under the MIT license, copyright Mitchell Hashimoto and Ghostty contributors. SSH servers, cloud services and other tools launched from Ghostty may require their own credentials or incur their own costs.
