REAPER

REAPER is Cockos' digital audio workstation for macOS, Windows and Linux. It combines recording, arranging, editing, mixing and mastering in one application, supporting audio, MIDI and video media in the same project.

Recording and production

Record audio and MIDI, overdub multiple takes, punch in and out, or record in a loop. Tracks can capture inputs or processed outputs. Editing tools include splitting, trimming, time stretching, pitch shifting, fades, crossfades and comping with takes and lanes. Multiple project tabs and nested track folders help organize sessions.

Routing and effects

Flexible multichannel routing supports buses, monitoring mixes and automation. The application supports third-party instruments and effects, including VST, VST3, CLAP, LV2, JSFX and macOS Audio Units; availability depends on platform and plug-in compatibility. Included effects cover common production tasks, while ReaScript and JSFX provide programmable workflows. Plug-in delay compensation and non-destructive effects rendering are documented features.

The recorded Homebrew 7.82 artifact is a universal macOS DMG for Apple silicon and Intel. REAPER is commercial software with a fully functional 60-day evaluation, rather than a free open-source application. Official user guides and instructional videos are available.
