Paseo
Mohamed Boudra / Paseo Project · Open-source desktop interface and self-hosted daemon for coding agents, with worktrees, terminals, diffs and cross-device clients.
Descripción
Paseo is a free, open-source interface for coding agents, developed by Mohamed Boudra and the Paseo project. It combines agent conversations, an editor, terminals, diffs and pull-request workflows, with desktop, mobile, web and CLI clients connecting to a self-hosted daemon.
Development workflows
Run multiple agents in separate Git worktrees, review their changes and use your existing development tools. Supported provider integrations include Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Pi, Antigravity and Muse Code. Provider capabilities and approval controls differ; Paseo is an orchestration interface rather than an included model subscription.
Agents execute on the daemon machine using its files, credentials, configuration and development environment. A connected client can monitor and direct that work. Worktrees help separate changes but are not a security sandbox. Review diffs, commands and tests before accepting changes. Plugins can extend the interface, agent lifecycle and providers; they run with access to the daemon machine and connected clients, so install trusted code.
Mac installation and dependencies
The current 0.11.1 Apple Silicon DMG is 185,842,596 bytes before installed storage. The Mac cask requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and offers separate ARM64 and Intel x64 packages. Copy Paseo.app to Applications and open it; the desktop app starts its daemon automatically and includes the Paseo CLI. The catalog declares no additional cask dependency or conflict, but useful agent work requires at least one supported agent CLI installed and authenticated separately.
The standalone npm daemon route is intended for a server, VM or computer without the desktop app and has its own runtime setup. Do not assume the Mac desktop installer supplies every provider, compiler, package manager or project dependency. Desktop, Linux and Windows distributions and native iOS/Android clients are separate downloads.
Remote connections and permissions
Pair a device from the host settings or connect to an existing daemon. The optional relay is disabled until enabled and provides end-to-end encrypted client-to-daemon traffic. SSH connections require a working key-based OpenSSH connection and an already-running remote daemon; the transport does not install or start the remote service. Direct or Tailscale connections require reachable network addresses and appropriate daemon authentication.
Keep pairing links and host credentials private and verify a host before accepting a pairing confirmation. Permissions requested by a coding agent remain meaningful: commands can modify files, run processes or contact services with the daemon user's privileges. Antigravity integration is documented as using its installed CLI in Full access, so approval modes are not interchangeable across providers. The daemon needs access to the selected project, and remote paths refer to the remote machine rather than the client's filesystem.
Voice and data processing
Dictation and voice mode require microphone access. Local speech uses downloaded ONNX models on CPU by default, with Parakeet speech recognition and Kokoro speech synthesis. The default local Parakeet v2 model is English-only; v3 supports 25 documented European languages with automatic detection. Model downloads add storage and initially require network access.
Optional OpenAI speech providers send audio or speech text to the configured service and require credentials. Voice reasoning uses an installed, authenticated coding-agent provider even when speech recognition is local. Likewise, a coding provider may send project content to its cloud service. The project's no-telemetry and no-forced-login claim for Paseo itself does not make all provider or plugin activity offline or private.
License, accounts and cost
Paseo is Apache License 2.0 software, with third-party components retaining their own licenses. The core self-hosted application does not require a Paseo account or paid subscription; optional sponsorship supports development. Agent-provider subscriptions, API usage, optional cloud speech and third-party services have separate accounts, prices and terms. Choose a provider and permissions suitable for the repository and information being processed.
