Descripción

Epic Games Launcher is Epic's desktop storefront and library client for downloading, updating and launching supported games and accessing separately installed Unreal Engine tools. It suits players with an Epic Games account and developers who obtain engine versions through Epic. This cask installs the Mac launcher, not every game, Unreal Editor or the Epic Online Services development SDK.

Features

  • Browse Epic Games Store products and manage an account's library.
  • Download, install, update and launch supported titles.
  • Select game installation locations and manage installed content.
  • Access publisher-supported cloud saves and account features where available.
  • Obtain Unreal Engine versions and related content through the dedicated engine workflow.

Each game determines its platforms, features, DRM, account requirements and hardware needs. Owning a title in your library does not mean it has a Mac build. A Windows-only game does not become playable on macOS merely because the launcher runs there. Cloud saves, achievements, offline play and cross-platform progression vary by title and should not be promised universally.

Install and use

Install with brew install --cask epic-games, or download the official Mac DMG and follow Epic's installation instructions. Sign in to the appropriate Epic Games account, open Library, select a supported game and choose its installation directory. Review free space and that game's Mac requirements before downloading. The current launcher can update separately from the initially downloaded installer.

The captured cask lists no additional formula dependency or explicit conflicting cask. Game runtimes, anti-cheat components, engine versions and optional services are separate products or dependencies. Give macOS access to the installation folders you intentionally choose and configure notifications as desired. Do not assume Full Disk Access, Accessibility or Screen Recording is required merely to browse the store.

Pause downloads and close running games before moving libraries or replacing installations. Back up local save files and project files separately: uninstalling a game, launcher removal and cloud-save availability are different things. Review sync conflicts before accepting a cloud/local overwrite. Engine projects may depend on a particular engine version and plugins, so retain the required versions and backups before upgrading them.

Account, games and cost

The launcher is free to download, but it does not include unlimited free access to every game. Purchases, paid add-ons, in-game transactions and subscriptions can have separate charges. Free-to-play titles and limited-time giveaways have their own terms, availability and claiming requirements. Use the correct account when purchasing or claiming content and enable account security options such as two-factor authentication.

An Epic Games account is used for library entitlements, purchases and related online features. Some games additionally require a publisher account, online authentication or third-party services. Offline mode is title-dependent and does not remove DRM or authentication requirements. Refund rules and ownership/license terms should be checked for the specific product; deleting the launcher does not automatically cancel purchases or subscriptions.

Mac requirements and architecture

The current dedicated Epic support article lists macOS 13.5 or later and says beta macOS releases are unsupported. The cask's coarse macOS 13 condition and the download page's older 10.13 text should not override that more specific current support requirement. The support article also lists 4 GB memory and 3 GB storage for the launcher. Its Intel/AMD CPU and DirectX examples are shared PC specifications, not a claim that Mac users must install DirectX.

A precise architecture declaration for this 20.3.3 Mac installer was not established from the accessible official material. Check the current Mac download and support guidance for your Intel or Apple Silicon Mac. Intel-only executables need Apple's Rosetta translation on Apple Silicon, while native/Universal executables can run their Apple Silicon code; the architecture of a game or Unreal Editor is independent from the launcher's. Do not infer launcher native support from Unreal Editor's Universal-binary documentation or promise Rosetta can run Windows games.

Games and engine workloads can require much more RAM, GPU capability and storage than the launcher. Check each game's Mac system requirements and supported graphics APIs, and check Unreal Engine's separate development requirements if installing it. This Mac cask is separate from the Windows launcher and mobile Epic Games Store applications.

Network, privacy and licenses

Store browsing, sign-in, downloads, updates and many game features use Epic's online services. The launcher communicates account and service information under Epic's privacy policy, and games may have additional publisher policies. Local installation does not mean offline or zero-data processing. Review parental controls, linked accounts and third-party terms as appropriate.

Epic Games Launcher is proprietary software governed by Epic's applicable software/store license agreements, with licenses for included third-party components. Its free download is not an open-source license. Unreal Engine licensing and Epic Online Services developer terms are separate from the launcher's price and do not automatically authorize every commercial engine use.

The official 20.3.3 Mac DMG is 115,248,384 bytes, verified through HTTP HEAD without downloading or running the installer. Installed launcher usage and game/engine downloads require additional storage. The recorded versions 20.3.3, 20.1.4 and 20.1.0 identify launcher installers; Fortnite, Unreal Engine or EOS notes are not their changelogs.
